Robinson Landing
Robinson Landing is a $185-million mixed-use development located on an industrial waterfront site in Alexandria, Virginia. The project incorporates three elements: 26 four-story townhomes, three five-story multi-family buildings, and 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The three-building development houses a total of 70 luxury condominiums in the heart of a walkable downtown community.
Overlooking the Potomac River and adjacent to a number of historical buildings, the site presented a number of challenges that demanded innovative structural solutions. Moreover, during the construction of Robinson Landing’s two-level underground parking garage, an estimated 100,000 archeological artifacts were recovered, including foundations of several commercial and industrial buildings, and vestiges of three 18th-century sailing ships, a testament to the area’s rich nautical heritage and the flexible design approach required on this project.
Other project features include the extension of adjacent streets and improved pedestrian access to the waterfront. The interiors of Robinson Landing boast open floorplans and living areas facing the river. On-site amenities include a fitness center, yoga studio, and a resident lounge. The overall architectural concept respects the Old Town’s historical charm, while providing a host of modern conveniences to suit the lifestyle of its clientele.
The development was honored with a Gold award for design at the 2020 Best in American Living Awards.
